Gantt Chart Overview

Overview Gantt Chart from 07/21/11—08/05/11
I have to tell you that I am not a huge fan of Gantt Charts because of the amount of work it takes to plan out my schedule. More often than not, I don't have a schedule when I design. For large projects, a Gantt Chart is useful, but I still dread it. The software I'm currently using is OMNIPLAN. I tried it for 30 days and actually fell in love with it. I recommend students to try it out and actually apply for a student group license fee.
Day to Day Detailed Gantt Chart from 07/21/11—08/05/11

Meeting with my design expert, I notice that I really need to start ramping up my efforts to get this research project done. I still feel like there is more research I need to do. I need to start thinking about my design style and continue observing the direction my research is taking me.

Note: I've had numerous fruitful conversations these past four weeks from both Christians and non-Christians about the closed off ethos San Francisco State University has regarding religion.

I still need to observe the campus more so I can break some assumption. Though religion is quite a touchy subjects for many, I'm really thankful to my colleagues in DAI 505 who have supported my endeavors and given me constructive feedback. I've truly been encouraged by their concerns and thoughts and my hope is that this research will also affect them in the same way it will affect my demographic. Design Research — Typography, Name, & Design Specifications
San-serif or serif. There's beauty in both actually and I will illustrate through some examples shortly.

I am still thinking of a title for my project. I am mindmapping, but I'm not coming across anything helpful. I should push for greek or roman words that capture the essence of "ideas" or "thought". I can think of Logos or Ethos, but it sounds too official.

What tone/attitude am I going for? Positive, jumpy & over-excited? Welcoming, informative & casual? Business, formal & poignant? Still need to think about this.

Design specifications? Since my solution is still in development, I do not have pinpoint specifications. If I were to pass this campaign on to an on-campus group or the SFSU, then cost needs to be minimal. If the school sponsors this campaign for religious awareness, I need to grab a style guide.

Inspirations
Campus Crusade for Christ Logo
A Crusade Against Long Names by Armin

A friend forwarded me an article on Campus Crusades' new logo. From the article, I definitely agree with their design observations from the previous logo. Name is too long. The simple phrasing and type as well as the use of negative space and lines to form the cross is a positive direction. As they are growing larger as an org, this direction is a must for establishing their identity. Also tells me they're willing to try out new things. What do you think?

Word Bible Designs
My friend also forwarded me the portfolio site of Jim Lepage, a designer who founded this project called "Word Bible Designs". Who would've thought that design can illustrate memorable and infamous biblical stories/verses. Definitely an inspiration to share to others.
